SSH Telnet
Want to find out what Telnet is and what it can be employed for?
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol that is used to transfer protected info between a client and a hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any information. Many tech-savvy clients opt for SSH mainly because of the higher level of security. The connection is established and the commands are delivered using a command line. The accessible options depend on the type of web hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files can be relocated or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives may be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the options are a lot more - the web server and the database server may be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software can be installed plus much more. These things are not possible on a shared server, because full root access is needed and all the other customers on that server shall be affected. Even though SSH is used mainly with UNIX-like Operating Systems, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, etc.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
SSH access is featured with all
Linux cloud hosting packages that we offer. With some of them, it is included by default, while with others it's an optional upgrade you can include with a couple of clicks from your website hosting Control Panel. You may get SSH access through the section related to it where you shall also find the info you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could select the password that you will use and, if required, you will be able to modify it with several clicks from the same place. All the commands that could be used with our shared plans are listed inside a help article along with relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is enabled for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is offered by default with some of our
semi-dedicated server solutions, while with others you can easily include it via the hosting CP if needed - even just for the current month. Either way, you are able to activate and de-activate the feature with one click from the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same place, you will find the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You shall also find a box where you can easily type the password which you want to use, as it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the Control Panel. For better protection, you may also change it as much as you want. A full list of the commands which can be executed in a semi-dedicated account is supplied in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and a couple of instances. An extra feature after SSH access is allowed shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP through any FTP client that supports this kind of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Web Hosting
When you order a new
virtual private server from us, it'll provide full root access and you shall be able to connect to the server and to control everything via an SSH console. The feature is included by default with all package deals, so you will not have to activate or upgrade anything. Your hosting server shall be set up right after you buy it and as soon as you receive the Welcome email with the login info, you can connect through the server’s primary IP address and begin working. Because the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is isolated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there will be no restrictions regarding the commands that you can use. You will have full root access, so that you may install and run any app that can work on a Linux server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software operating on it.
