Every PC or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, each and every app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting
We provide as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we offer all 3 rather than only 1 since we realize that you might want to set up some software which has specific requirements for the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're different software applications you could install on the hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you wish to use one and that's why we offer several Control Panels too. Should you decide that you need another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you want. We also offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting
If you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on your server as different apps may have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe web hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you intend to run. We can also update the OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
